Two chemistries, one facility
Status: regulatory clearances under application. The unit is not yet operating.
We are establishing a recycling unit for both lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. Taking both is a deliberate choice rather than a hedge.
Lead-acid is the volume that exists today — every vehicle on the road has one, and the collection networks are mature. Lithium-ion is the volume that is coming, from electric two-wheelers first and from grid storage behind it, and the recovered material in it is worth considerably more. A unit that handles both is fed from day one and positioned for the transition.
Both are governed by the Battery Waste Management Rules and their extended producer responsibility obligations, which put a legal duty on producers to see their batteries recycled through registered facilities. That is a compliance market with a defined counterparty, not a speculative one.
It also sits directly alongside the vehicle scrapping facility. An end-of-life vehicle arrives carrying a battery, and increasingly it arrives carrying a large one.
